Glasgow Christmas Day and News Year’s Day Buses cancelled


First Group have announced that there will be no buses on Christmas Day and New Years Day in Greater Glasgow except an Express service to the airport.

Those visiting family and friends may be forced to stay dry this Christmas after the city’s largest bus firm announced all of its 118 routes would be cancelled.

The service 500 will operate every 20-30 minutes from 5am on January 1st between Buchannan bus station and Glasgow Airport.

On Christmas Eve and Hogmanay a normal Sunday timetable will operate, but most services will be withdrawn from around 9pm.

On Boxing Day and January 2nd a Sunday timetable will operate on all services. Glasgow Airport Express service 500 will start at 5am from Buchanan Bus Station and 5am from the airport.

From Wednesday 27th December to Friday 29th December 2017, and Wednesday 3rd January 2018 a Saturday timetable will operate – except on services M1, 29, 93, 94, 121, 128, 129, 205, 251 & 299 which will operate a normal weekday timetable.

Night Bus services will operate Friday night into Saturday morning.

Extra peak journeys will operate on services 7A, X8, X11 and X87, and journeys to and from Maxim Park will operate on services 2 and 242.

A normal Saturday timetable will operate, including Night Bus services.

Services return to normal from Thursday 4 January 2018.
