Police have arrested a 31-year-old man after a 15-minute pursuit of a stolen vehicle in south Edinburgh.
A ford Transit van reported stolen from North Berwick was spotted by officers on the A1, and a subsequent 7-mile pursuit resulted in several vehicles being damaged including two police cars.
The pursuit concluded on Lady Road close to Cameron Toll Shopping Centre where there was a large police presence.
Traffic was able to pass with care but caused local delays on Lady Road, Dalkeith Road and Peffermill Road.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 10.40am on Thursday 28th June, Road Policing Officers came across a Ford Transit van on the A1, near Wallyford, which had been reported stolen from an address in North Berwick earlier that day.
“A pursuit of the vehicle was authorised, during which time the van struck a number of cars, including two police cars.
“The pursuit concluded at around 10.55am on Lady Road, Edinburgh and a 31-year-old man was subsequently arrested.
“No one was injured and inquiries into the full circumstances of this matter are continuing.”
