Lothian Buses have unveiled two of their newly refurbished buses to customers as they entered service for the first time on trial runs last week.
The six-year-old Wright Bus ‘Eclipse Gemini 2’ Euro 5 double-deckers look unrecognisable since their days on the road in London on route 266 Brent Cross to Hammersmith, and route 28 Wandsworth to Kensal Rise.
Central doors have been removed, new flooring, seating, WIFI and USB power outlets have also been fitted and finished off with personalised registration plates.
Another first for Lothian is fleet numbers have now entered four figures with LXZ 5383 assigned 1001 and LXZ 5384 1002.
It’s understood 1001 was removed from service 40 minutes into its first shift due to a cash vault issue.
So far the buses have been spotted on routes 8, 16 41 and X44E.
