Astonishing footage shows the ‘complete carnage’ caused by a bin lorry shedding its load in an upmarket street.
Festering rubbish is shown strewn for around 30m (100ft) behind the lorry in Bromley, London.
Disbelieving residents are seen standing outside their homes, which fetch well in excess of £1m, staring at the mayhem.
The driver appears to have caught the chaotic scenes on his mobile phone and he can be heard laughing hysterically as vehicles try to swerve around the mess on Wednesday.
Jack Moorcroft uploaded the clip, thought to have been filmed in Stone Park Avenue in the Beckenham area of the borough, to social media with the caption: “Avoid near Kelsey Park. Excuse the language. (Filmed by my labourer, Miller. For all the haters.)”
Jack can be heard in the footage laughing hysterically and saying saying: ‘Look at this! How jarred are these people! Oh mate, that is f******complete carnage.”
At one point, a man and two young women can be seen outside a substantial detached home looking at the rubbish trail. The man appears to be having a conversation on his mobile.
The crew of the rubbish lorry can be seen battling in vain to gather up the mess as cars move partly into the opposite lane to try to pass.
Part of the rear of the lorry appears to be hinged into the air, giving a possible clue as the cause of the mishap.
On social media, Gemma Burton-Nickson speculated: “Oh dear…someone pressed the button.”
Dave Maurice Kool Wiltshire wrote: “how did they manage to do that?”
Duncan McGill wrote: “Somebody put the wrong kind of rubbish out for collection!”
Dan Dodd wrote: “That’s Stone Park Avenue near the Chinese.”
