A PARCEL DELIVERY firm is investigating after dash cam footage shows one of its vehicles being driven dangerously in North Lincolnshire.
The incident involving a DPD liveried Mercedes van happened on Grimsby Road (A46) at 3.24pm on Monday 28th September.
A series of near misses, seconds apart, suggest time is more important to the driver than road safety.
As the clip begins he fails to notice a biker overtaking him, he signals and begins to move out to pass the dash cam vehicle.
Luckily he spots the biker at the last moment and pulls back in, but then the van driver immediately follows him at speed into oncoming traffic.
Both drivers appeared to be going for a double overtake until the biker notices a Ford C-Max heading towards him.
The biker pulls behind a red Ford Focus, however the DPD driver narrowly avoids hitting the dash cam car too as he passes both with inches to spare as he straddles both lanes.
Ian Clark, from Grimsby, initially shared the dash cam footage from his partners car on social media, and was urged by commentators to contact Police.
After reporting the incident to Lincolnshire Police he later also sent them a tweet.
Mr Clark, 50, wrote: “So glad those involved didn’t collide – this would be another bad day on Lincolnshire roads.
“The incident left my other half badly shaken, she was the lone driver of dash cam vehicle and these photos show how close to disaster the occupants of the vehicles came.”
Sergeant Mike Templeman replied: “That is crazy, thanks for reporting Ian.”
Mike featured on the 2015 series of Police Interceptors where he earned the nickname “Tempo”.
A DPD spokesman said: “Thank you for bringing this incident to our attention.
“At DPD we take the conduct of our people and the safety of other road users very seriously indeed and, as a result, we have instigated a full investigation.
“The driver’s behaviour here falls a long way short of our expectations.
“We will identify the individual and action will be taken.”
Lincolnshire Police confirmed that the incident has been reported to them, but no further details were available.
