BRITAIN’S LAZIEST delivery driver has been sacked after he was caught on camera tossing a package into customers front garden without attempting to deliver.

The incident on Sunday afternoon (22/11/2020) at 12.51pm in Churwell, Leeds was captured on a neighbours CCTV.

It shows the Hermes delivery driver, a ‘temporary substitute’ pull up in a black Audi, and it took him just 15 seconds to make the shocking delivery attempt – without even setting foot on the elderly customers property.

The parcel landed beside a parked car on the edge of the property which is certainly not the first place you would look for your parcel.

But don’t worry! If you track the package you get a proof of delivery photo that is bound to give you some clues?

However in this case, the photo simply showed the front of the package and nothing else rendering it useless. Luckily there is also a GPS stamp, but that only proves the courier was in the vicinity of your property but not that he attempted to deliver or even left your package.

It seems this customer isn’t alone, the Hermes Trust Pilot page is flooded with one star ‘Bad’ reviews that currently account for over 150,000 unhappy customers – many complaints are similar and related to parcels that have been marked as delivered but are no where to be found.

Jonathan Hunter shared footage of the incident on social media, he wrote: “Hermes parcel deliveries continue to leave me speechless.”

Roxanne M replied: “I feel your pain, they did exactly the same to me a few months ago.

“I made another order on 12th November, and I still haven’t received my parcel.

“Their service is absolutely rubbish, and I can’t find a way to contact them either.”

Speaking today John said: “Its an older neighbours parcel that doesn’t have social media, and can’t find a way to contact them by phone.

“Roughly a dozen other people in my area have had similar experiences so I really wanted them to look into it.”

A spokeswoman for Hermes said: “We have apologised to Miss Boldy for the inconvenience and she has accepted a good will payment.

“The courier in the video was a temporary substitute for the regular round holder and will not be delivering on behalf of Hermes again.

“Our local teams are working hard to continue to safely deliver during these difficult times and we thank everyone for their ongoing patience and support.”

Earlier this month a Hermes delivery driver was filmed tossing a parcel over a 6ft fence, the firm pledged to investigate after the contents were unsurprisingly damaged.
