TERRIFYING footage shows why motorists must stay alert as van driver fails to notice congestion and crashes at high-speed into the back of car on busy motorway.
The collision involving three vehicles happened on the M56 heading eastbound near junction 11 Runcorn, Cheshire at 2.20pm on September 24.
HGV driver, Ricky Lemaux caught the drama unfold on his dashcam as a unidentified driver of a silver Citroen van comes into view at speed in lane 3.
Smoke was bellowing from the wheels of the van as the driver slammed on his breaks, however it was to late to avoid colliding with a red and black Renault that was travelling much slower due to congestion building ahead.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged, and the force of the impact caused the driver of the Renault to swerve into a silver Volkswagen Passat.
According to Police there were no reports of any injuries and no arrests have been made.
Later that evening after reviewing his dash cam footage, Ricky, 26 from Kent posted the clip of the collision online.
He wrote: “Van driver speeding towards slow moving traffic on the M56 – then suddenly brakes but fails to stop the van.
“Crashing into the back of the red car, pushing it into the car next to him.”
The clip has since been viewed over 8,000 times and attracted over 100 comments, reactions and shares.
