A RECKLESS driver has been described as ‘Too Fast and Furious’ by road safety experts after he hits a car on roundabout before losing obliterating railings and his pride and joy.

Breathtaking footage shows horrific incident that happened on Airevally Road, Keighley, West Yorkshire on Monday 20th July 2020 at 6.25pm.

Amazingly all three occupants of the grey BMW 3 series walked away, despite the the airbags failing to deploy as the vehicle flattened the metal railings and spinning 360 degrees as the wheels left the road.

Behind the wheel was Atif Iqbal, 20, who is thought to have been showing off to his mates by failing to slow down adequately as he left the adjoining bypass.

Self employed Atif from Huddersfield, wrote off the flash executive motor in less than two weeks since he bought it.

Elliott Stone, 31, was driving the silver Audi A6, he was heading straight on towards the local B&Q store with his brother-in-law.

As he joins the roundabout traffic is clear, moments later Iqbal speeds into view and tries to turn left clipping the offside front quarter of Elliott’s car.

He then loses control and the BMW powerslides onto the A650 towards Skipton, before crashing into the railings throwing debris into the air before coming to a stop.

In a state of shock Elliott said: “Oh, what a d**k head. Oh my god, what a pr**k man.”

Sharing the footage online, he wrote: “I installed a dash cam during lockdown, and I’m so glad I did now!”

Andy Langley commented: “Tbh it’s kinda nice to see that for once the idiot who caused the accident ended up with more damage, usually the other way around.”

Local Carl Johnson said: “I live near this roundabout so know it well. I can see his intentions were to go straight on at the roundabout and the BMW has probably come onto the roundabout about 567mph from one dual carriageway to the next – defo BMW in the wrong.”

Adam Wood wrote: “Bet he wishes he’d have used a little less right foot now. Hopefully insurance goes through smoothly. With that footage it’s clear who’s at fault.”

Donna Louise Mansell-green added: “This happened to me a few years back unfortunately I didn’t have dash cam footage so was put down to 50/50 because it was a roundabout.

“My car was a write off, some people just don’t know how to drive. I hope you are OK, I can totally see it’s not your fault.”

Despite minimal damage Elliott received notification on Tuesday (July 28) that it would cost £8,000 to repair his Audi, making it uneconomical to proceed – he intends to buy the car back and repair himself at a fraction of the cost.

Edmund King, AA president, said: “It is vital that every driver slows when approaching a roundabout in order to enter and exit safety.

“This driver was clearly too fast and furious and certainly appears not to be concentrating on the road ahead.

“Luckily it was only the cars written off and not the humans.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “This was a damage only collision involving a single vehicle which collided with a metal barrier.

“There do not appear to be any active proceedings against the driver.”

Earlier this year banned driver Nathan Scott, 28 from Keighley was jailed for 16 months after driving the wrong way on the Bringley bypass at 100mph.

He was returned to prison as he was on license for causing serious injury by dangerous driving when he tried to outrun police on April 8.
