Fire Crews have battled a massive blaze on third anniversary of field fire in East Lothian.
Emergency services were called to a large field fire near Clark Avenue, Musselburgh on Wednesday evening (6th August 2025) at 8:10 PM.
The blaze, which destroyed the field, came exactly three years after a similar fire broke out at the same location on Sunday, 7th August 2022.
Dramatic drone footage shows firefighters working late into the night, damping down the scorched field after the inferno.
Seven appliances were deployed to the scene, including a Control Unit from Liberton in Edinburgh, with further support positioned at Edenhall Road.
Just ten minutes later, crews were also dispatched to a second fire on Smith Wynd in Tranent, sparking concerns among local residents.
Although no injuries were reported in either incident, the close timing and location of the fires have led to growing suspicions that they may have been started deliberately.
Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact causes.
Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service also attended but were stood down.
An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were first alerted to the incident near Clark Avenue in Musselburgh at 8.10pm. Six fire appliances attended the scene and the fire has since been extinguished.
“Crews are also currently dealing with a second outdoor fire in the Smith Wynd area of Tranent. We were made aware of this at 8.20pm and have one appliance in attendance.
“There are no reports of any casualties.”
