Footage shows billowing black smoke from warehouse fire after explosion

FOOTAGE shows billowing black smoke following explosion at a warehouse and office unit on an industrial estate in Buckinghamshire.

The fire broke out at around 1.40pm on Thursday afternoon (03/06/2021) at premises on Lincoln Road in Cressex Business Park in High Wycombe.

Rebecca Holt who filmed the video on her helmet camera said the smoke smelt like burning plastic.

Sixteen appliances and crews from Buckinghamshire, Royal Berkshire and Oxfordshire and nine officers are in attendance around 70 crew members in total.

Residents as far as Henley-on-Thames and Heathrow Airport around 20 miles away have reported that they can see the smoke.

There have been no reported casualties.

Group Commander Paul Scanes from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service who is at the scene:

“The fire and rescue service was called at 13.40 to a commercial property fire. On arrival, crews were confronted by a well-developed fire which was spreading to surrounding buildings.

“Crews from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service have been working in hot and arduous conditions in a multi-service approach with Oxfordshire and Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Services to bring the fire under control.

“Our advice is to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed.

“Firefighters will be at the scene for a considerable amount of time. Thankfully no-one has been injured.”

The Fire Service added that it had received more than a hundred 999 calls from concerned members of the public.
