Breathtaking footage shows a motorist who drove half-a-mile the wrong way on motorway slip road then pull out in front of HGV on Derby Southern Bypass.
The near miss happened on the A50 at junction 24A slip road to the M1 Northbound on Thursday July 6, at 11.38am.
Road safety experts have described the selfish drivers’ actions that caused an HGV driver to brake heavily as extremely dangerous and very stupid.
Chris Ball was behind the wheel of the camera car when he was confronted by the driver of the white Vauxhall Astra.
Speaking today he said: “As I was approaching the car in front braked and moved onto the hard shoulder to avoid a white car travelling towards us along the entry slip road to the motorway – the car was moving slowly.

“The driver then pulled across the hatched area to then turn left, pulling out in front of an HGV which braked heavily and sounded it’s horn.”
Later that evening Chris shared a snippet of the footage online and comments came flooding in criticising the driver.
One user commented: “WOW! Needs to hand their license in!”
Another wrote: “Pulling s**t like this should be an instant ban.”
A third said: “Need bloody locking up!”
A fourth simply added: “Yikes!”
Jack Cousens, head of roads policy for the AA, said: “Not only was this ‘manoeuvre’ extremely dangerous, but it was also very stupid.
“While the driver acted in a selfish manner, they are fortunate that everyone else around them was paying attention and avoided a serious incident.
“We hope that the police can identify the driver and take appropriate action.”
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “It does not appear that we’ve had the incident reported to us.”
Officers are unable to act unless incident is reported directly to them – unfortunately due to work commitments Mr Ball has currently not had time to do this.
