Shocking footage shows motorists including an Private Hire driver with passenger driving the wrong way up Edinburgh City Bypass.

The A720 was closed Eastbound between Gogar and Hermiston Gait roundabouts for four hours following a collision on Wednesday (22/03/2023) afternoon at around 4.20pm.

A clip showing the Private Hire driver performing a seven-point turn in traffic gridlock and driving back towards the Gogar roundabout followed by another motorist was posted online at 6.45pm.

Through an open window a passenger can be seen sitting in the back of the grey Skoda.

The uploader claims to not have been the one filming the incident with a mobile phone.

Martin Mackay wrote: “Quality bit driving from a private hire car today on city bypass.

“Can’t wait for them to take over at Edinburgh airport no doubt they will be taking short cuts over runway.

“No way this guys got a licence that’s for sure

“Worst drivers in Edinburgh see them every day.”

Another commented: “Shocking!! Should not have a driving licence…let alone a taxi licence.”

A third added: “Hope someone clocked their reg number and reported them, shocking!”

Police Scotland have confirmed they have received no reports of drivers driving the wrong way down the carriageway at the time of the incident.
