SHOCKING dash cam footage shows a reckless driver undertake at speed on slip road before weaving from lane to lane before disappearing in distance.
Police are investigating the incident of dangerous driving that happened on the A1 Northbound at Darrington, in Wakefield at 6.29pm on Tuesday March 30.
Driver of the dash cam car Rosolino Valoroso, saw the black Vauxhall Astra van approaching that fast in his rear view mirror he thought it was a Police chase.
As the clip begins the camera car is on approach to the Darrington/Womersley junction, and once its almost past the junction the black van comes into view.
The speeding driver undertakes and crosses the chevrons, he then undertakes the vehicle in the outside lane before tailgating another in the distance.
Speaking today, Rosolino, 48 from Doncaster said: “I first noticed the car on my rear mirror driving at high speed and getting too close, for a moment I thought he was about to exit the motorway, but then he undertook me without any attempts to slow down.
“He continued overtaking and undertaking other vehicles without slowing down and pushing his way through.
“At first I thought he was being chased by the police, but it turned out not to be the case.”
West Yorkshire Police are investigating after reviewing the footage that was sent to them via the National Dash Cam Safety Portal.
Edmund King, AA president, said: “This type of reckless driving has no place on the public road network, and indeed some of the actions might also be questioned on the race track.
“Hopefully the police will track down this driver and bring them to book.”
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “We can confirm the footage has been received and reviewed, and the matter is under investigation.”
