A RECKLESS motorist has been caught on camera after he reversed 1.2 miles on a busy motorway to take a picture of a road sign.
The driver behind the wheel of a white Ford Kuga was spotted on Saturday (13/03/2021) at around 3.30pm.
He reversed on the hard shoulder of the M90 from the Queensferry Crossing, and somehow managed to negotiate on and off slip roads at the Queensferry 1A junction without incident.
After reversing at speed over a mile in the wrong direction, footage shows the driver stop the vehicle just past a sign for Forth Valley Tourist Route, Visitor Attractions and Non-motorway traffic on the A90.
It’s understood moments later the driver got out of the car to take picture of the sign, before re-joining the motorway driving in the correct direction.
Edmund King, AA president, said: “It is incredibly dangerous to reverse up a hard shoulder and this should never be attempted unless under instruction from the police.
“There are no excuses at all for this type of irresponsible driving.”
Bear Scotland who manage the South East Trunk Roads on behalf of Transport Scotland did not respond when asked to comment.
Police Scotland said that they weren’t aware of the incident.
Last month Grzegorz Dudek was banned from driving after he missed his turn and reversed his car on the A749 in East Kilbride.
Sheriff Linda Nicolson fined him £210, disqualified him for 12-months and told him he will need to resit his test if he wishes to drive again.
