SHOCKING footage shows the moment a skip company dumps contents on a driveway after refusing to take mattresses that were confirmed as okay with customer at time of booking.

The incident happened on Monday (29/03/2021) afternoon on Raymond Avenue in Blackpool, Lancashire.

Lynn Prestage hired the skip through Circle Waste on March 9th at a cost of £192 and the job was subsequently subcontracted to local firm Lytham St Annes Skip Hire.

Unfortunately last month Lynn’s mother passed away, and she asked for the skip to be collected by Friday March 26th which was the day of her funeral – she was advised at 8am that morning that it would be a priority.

After failing to turn up on Friday, the operative turned up yesterday afternoon to then leave after refusing to take three mattresses that were on top of the household waste.

He returned an hour later and tipped the contents onto the driveway and took the skip away. He accused her partner of bullying after he argued with the girl at the firm regarding their lack of communication.

It is believed damage was also caused to the driveway which can’t be fully inspected until the waste has been removed by an alternative means.

Lynn shared the video on Facebook and wrote: “This is what happens when you pay £200 for a skip, only for them to moan about taking mattresses when it was confirmed ok.

“So he thought it was acceptable to empty the lot over our drive –  now a fight to get our money back if they answer the phone.”

Speaking today she said: “Driver came yesterday afternoon, refusing to take the load of mattresses, driver drove off and returned an hour later.

“He hooked up the skip, cut the rope we had used to hold down the load, and proceeded to drag the skip down my driveway.

“The contents was fly tipped on my driveway as we had a confrontation argument with the driver, the company say we will have to wait to get our money back.”

Circle Waste and Lytham St Annes Skip Hire have been contacted for comment.

Ironically the skip hire firm give advice on their own website on ‘How to avoid cowboy skip hire companies’ which states: “It is also wise to ask for a copy of their public liability insurance in case they accidentally damage your property when delivering or collecting the skip.”

Neither are mattresses listed in the items that most commonly cannot be disposed of. These are: Oil, Petrol, Diesel, Tyres, Fridges, Freezers, Asbestos, Clinical or Medical Waste (including syringes), Hazardous or Toxic materials, Tins of paint and Gas bottles.
