A 28 year-old-man was injured in a hit and run road crash in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Just after midnight, a 28 year old man was walking along the east footpath on Hillington Road with some friends after a night out. About 20 metres north of the junction with Birkhall Avenue the man began to cross the road, to get to the west footpath, when he was struck by a car, possibly a dark coloured ‘old style’ Vauxhall Corsa which failed to stop.

The injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he is receiving treatment for a fracture to his leg.

The road was closed for more than two hours allowing a full examination to be carried out by crash scene investigators.

Sergeant Joe McGuckien from Glasgow’s Road Policing Unit said: “We are in the process of checking CCTV images from in an around the area in an effort to identify the car and driver.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in that area around the time of the incident to contact and who may have seen this car or witnessed the incident to contact us as you may have information which could assist us in our investigation into this incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers from Road Policing Unit in Glasgow on the non-emergency number, 101.
