Dramatic footage shows large scale police response after officers received a report of concern for a man driving in a West Lothian town.
The incident unfolded on A89 Edinburgh Road, adjacent to Bathgate Academy shortly after 10.15pm on Sunday March 26 2023.
James Johnston, an emergency response vehicle enthusiast was parked and filming after spotting the blue lights in the distance.
As the clip begins two police cars and a van pass at speed, followed shortly behind by three traffic units and another vehicle appears to stopped in the distance.
James also spots a helicopter in the sky that appears to have its spotlight on and following the action.
Moments later at Guildiehaugh Roundabout the extend of the response is more evident as Blackburn Road is full of Police cars surrounding the suspect vehicle.

Speaking today James, 34 said: “I had only parked up few moments prior with my dog and could already here a few sirens in surrounding area and with in next few minutes the first police traffic units began passing along with other local units.
“It was after the second and third passes I realised that they were actually pursuing a vehicle back and forth – I was already recording as it always makes a good picture or video when you catch any blue light run by our emergency services.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: Around 10.15pm on Sunday, 26 March, 2023, police received a report of concern for a man driving in the Bathgate area. The vehicle failed to stop for police and a low-speed pursuit ended in the Edinburgh Road area.
“A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences. He was expected to appear at court on Monday, 27 March, 2023.”
The 34-year-old man appeared at Livingston Sheriff court on Monday March 27 2023 and is due to re-appear at a later date.
